Training Pads for Dogs
- Equipo NUPEC®
One of the most wonderful stages in a dog's life, when the great human-canine bond begins to form, is puppyhood: a time to have fun with your puppy as it discovers the world, plays and gets into mischief, but above all learns the basics of everyday life with its family. And almost always, the most important part of a puppy's training, besides obedience of course, starts with everything related to potty time.
In fact, everything related to “potty time” is one of the hardest things for a puppy to learn at this stage, which is why many people find this period chaotic or frustrating. The good news is that there are now many products that make this learning process easier.
Among the most popular products for starting potty training are attractants and repellents. But did you know there are other products that make this training easier? We are talking about training pads, a quick, easy and practical way to teach a puppy where to go potty.
What are dog training pads?
They are mats where the dog can relieve itself.
There are several products of this kind. Pad-type mats are usually square or rectangular pieces made with absorbent technology similar to disposable diapers, so the dog can go directly on them without urine seeping onto the floor or surface underneath. Besides pads, there are plastic trays with a layer of artificial grass that give the puppy a surface similar to the grass in a garden, which can make it easier for it to understand that this is where it should relieve itself inside the house.
The advantage of plastic-tray training pads is that, unlike pads, which must be thrown away once they have absorbed urine, the trays hold the urine, which can be poured down the drain, and the tray can then be washed and reused.
Dog training pads are very useful for teaching a puppy where to relieve itself, helping the dog stay clean and well-mannered not only as a puppy but throughout the other stages of its life.
Whichever type of pad you use, we recommend choosing a specific spot for it, away from where your pet eats and sleeps, since dogs instinctively avoid urinating or defecating near their resting place. Ideally, set up a routine that lets you keep an eye on your dog, and every time it uses the pad correctly, give it positive reinforcement—a pat, a word of encouragement or even a treat—so it associates this activity with something pleasant.

We would also like to remind you that a healthy puppy is a happy puppy that will learn faster and better. To keep your puppy healthy, one of the most important things at this stage, besides veterinary care including checkups, vaccines and deworming, is its nutrition. That is why we offer a great line of super premium food for this stage, with the following products:

NUPEC Puppy kibble, which offers the right nutritional balance of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, with top-quality ingredients in a highly palatable and digestible kibble with an irresistible taste, aroma and texture.
